WhatsApp Launches Status Feature
A few days ago, WhatsApp announced an upcoming function: allow users to post photos, videos and POISON on WhatsApp would be Status. This will replace the usual WhatsApp status update. Well, today it became a reality; WhatsApp Status is now here. The new version discarded the function of the old status updates. This can be a problem.
For one thing, Whatsapp status only allows photos, videos and POISON's. This is a great feature; but it does not allow the text updates. WhatsApp status used to have a way to know your contacts if you are available. Now you can not even do that; what is the point of calling it WhatsApp Status? This defeats the purpose of uploading statuses. In addition, your new status will only last for 24 hours. Unless, so you are religiously addicted to upload photos and / or videos of yourself every day, would get annoying very quickly.
Still, it's fun to play with. I've already posted my initial status; it's very easy. Here's how to do it:
Tap the Status tab. You'll find this tab next to Chats tab.Click on the dotted circle with the plus sign. Or you could tap the "My Status" .Select the photo, video or POISON you want to use as your status. You can also take a picture or record a video there.
Note that you can delete your status before it expires. Just click on the three dots in front of your status.
One thing that I am still impressed with the WhatsApp Status is privacy. With this feature, you can still be assured that the status update will be private if you want. It has three privacy options; You can avoid sharing your status with your contacts, some people watching your status, or share with just a few people.
Well, it looks good on the surface. Snapchat users will surely enjoy. But I think some would be the status update option old preference.
